Tips for Looking for a Reputable Moving Company Near MeFlorence Earle Coates - November 1, 2022
It can be a stressful experience to move to a new state, especially if you never have before. Thankfully, however, there are many ways to make the process easier. The most important thing is to find the right moving company that suits your needs and doesn’t cost too much money.
When searching for a potential moving company near me, always look at the testimonials or reviews of their past customers. Many moving companies will have legitimate testimonials of past clients, however it is important to use your own judgment while reading these reviews. If most of them are positive, then it is most likely a good company, but if many of the reviews are negative and specifically say that the company lies to its customers or has hidden charges, then steer clear from that particular moving company.
Find a Freight Forwarder
If you are planning on moving with help from friends or family, then you can always let them help. A freight forwarder is just what it sounds like, someone who helps people find movers and packers and makes sure everything is done properly. You will have to do a lot of looking around to find the right one, but they are usually very good at their job. Many times they will be able to get the movers and packers at a lower rate than you would if you were to go through the provider yourself.
Go Through Better Business Bureau
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is an organization that helps people in finding solutions for businesses that have issues with their customers. Many times, a company won’t have many complaints from their past customers because they are good at what they do. However, this isn’t always the case and you should check out their BBB rating to see if the company is trustworthy.
Call the Local Better Business Bureau
The BBB doesn’t cover every single state that has a bureau, but it does cover enough of them to give you an idea of what type of problems you could run into with some moving companies. Call your local BBB office and ask them about the movers in your area. They will be able to answer any questions that you have or point you in the right direction.
Call the State Government
Moving companies do not have to abide by all state laws, but they should be aware of them in case they occur. If you are moving a large amount of stuff, then you should call your state government and ask them to send them a survey to fill out. If the company knows that they will get inspected and remain in compliance with all state requirements, then the move will go much more smoothly and your items will be handled with care.
