Singing Voice Lessons – The Necessity
Florence Earle Coates - March 10, 2023Many people are fascinated with opera and want to learn how to sing. There are many resources such as books, classes, programs, and operas that teach you how to sing. However, there is one resource that is not advertised or taught in schools or universities- singing Voice Lessons. If you want to learn how to sing like an opera singer from a private teacher at your own pace then this is the resource for you. Here are the necessities of learning voice lessons:
A desire to sing
If you have an interest in singing and have not yet taken lessons then you might want to simply play with a recorder or another instrument before you attempt to learn how to sing. It will help you learn vocalizing technique, which is the main ingredient needed to be able to sing.
Time
It can take anywhere from one month up to two years depending on the level of training that you are looking for. This is true for any profession.
A sense of humor
Singing lessons will only get very boring if you are not willing to laugh at yourself and do it again. The more effort that you put into improving, the more success there will be with your singing.
A good ear
This is someone who has a good sense of hearing and can tell when the pitch is a bit flat or sharp even if they are busy playing instruments or speaking on the phone.
A good voice
This is a prerequisite because it will make it much easier to learn how to sing. Without a good voice you cannot even begin to sing lessons.
A good quality singing voice
This is important as well because without that, you can be taught how to sing all day long, but if you don’t actually know how to use your voice then your singing lessons are in vain and useless. This can take anywhere from a few days up to two years depending on the student and the difficulty of their voice.
A teacher
A good teacher will be able to help you reach your singing goals.
An instrument
This does not need to be anything more than a pitch pipe that can help you keep your voice on key.
The willingness to not give up and always keep trying
If you give up after the first lesson then you are wasting your time and money on something that could have helped you become a better singer than what you are now.
